Loyola Center for Fitness to host Women's Day event

Day will feature exhibits, seminars and ask the expert sessions
MAYWOOD, Ill. – Loyola Center for Fitness will host a free women’s health and wellness day on Saturday, Nov. 1. Women's Day is designed to help women take time for themselves and make their health and wellness a priority.

“This event provides women with opportunities to sharpen their minds, energize their bodies and improve their outlook on life,” said Jaimie Lehotsky, director, Loyola Center for Fitness. “It also offers valuable information and tools to help women care for themselves and their families.”

Women's Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Loyola Center for Fitness on the medical center campus, 2160 S. First Ave., Maywood. Activities will include health screenings, exhibits and seminars on topics such as pelvic health, sexual wellness, healthy lifestyle tips and behavior modification. Women's Day will feature experts in personal training, aesthetics, breast health, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and nutrition. Attendees also will have the opportunity to undergo blood pressure screenings.

Loyola University Chicago women’s head basketball coach Sheryl Swoopes will give the keynote lecture. Swoopes is regarded as one of the greatest female athletes of all time. She is a four-time WNBA champion, an NCAA champion and a three-time Olympic gold medalist. She will discuss women in leadership.

Other Women’s Day speakers include:

9:30 a.m. – Lifestyle coach Kimberly Smith-Martinez will discuss stress, resilience and healthy-living tips.

10:15 a.m. – Linda Brubaker, MD, MS, will address a busy women’s guide to fitting in fitness. Dr. Brubaker is the dean and chief diversity officer of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, and an urogynecologist in the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Loyola University Health System.

11 a.m. – Sheryl Swoopes, keynote speaker

12:30 – Mary Lynn, DO, will discuss sexual wellness. Dr. Lynn is an obstetrician and gynecologist at Loyola University Health System and a co-director of Loyola’s Sexual Wellness Clinic.
