Applying to the Program                 back to main page

Thank you for your interest in the Loyola University Medical Center Radiation Oncology Residency Training Program. This year we will again be participating in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Your application should be accompanied by your curriculum vitae, medical school transcripts, three letters of reference, and a personal statement. The Dean's Letter from your medical school
should be released and downloaded to ERAS on November 1st.

Explain any interruptions in your education. Tell us why you have chosen radiation oncology as your specialty. The selection committee is most interested in what special qualities and experiences you have and what you hope to do with your radiation oncology training. The personal statement helps us to know you, and we read it with great care.

Your completed application will be thoroughly reviewed by the Program Director and several faculty members chosen for the selection committee. Interviews will be by invitation sent via e-mail. There will be 2-3 interview sessions in late 2009 for the 2011 positions with approximately 8 applicants interviewed per session.  Each interview day begins at 7:00 a.m. with a Grand Rounds presentation. The interviews begin immediately following Grand Rounds at 8:00 a.m. You should expect to be here until approximately 2:30 p.m. The day consists of meetings with various faculty and residents and a tour of the Loyola University Medical Center and the adjacent Hines VA campus. Continental breakfast and lunch will be served.

We typically have one to two PGY openings per year through the NRMP.  We will have two PGY-2 positions open for 2011.

If you have any questions, please contact Vera Wilt, Residency Coordinator, at either 708.216.2687 or vwilt@lumc.edu.

Deadline for receipt of all application materials is November.
